Civic Awareness Essay Application & Guidelines
The
first annual Civic Awareness Awards program was
a resounding success. We hope to continue to make this contest truly
representative of the diverse and talented populace of Chicago area
schools. With awards for winning freshmen and sophomores in the
form of US Savings Bonds worth $1500, $1000, $700 and $400 and awards
for winning juniors and Seniors worth $1500, $1000, and $600, we
hope to again generate a wide applicant pool.
With this competition, we are proud to represent the opportunity
for students to think critically about their role as active participants
in a democracy. We hope this meditation serves as both an intellectual
exercise and as a catalyst to more fully engage students in their
roles as citizens of their hometown, America and the world.
Please
join us in congratulating the winners of the 2005 Civic Awareness
