Unique to our city, the Civic & Arts Foundation’s Fiction Competition for Young Writers awards young people between the ages of 16 and 26 for their phenomenal fiction writing abilities. While other programs that support writers exist in the city of Chicago, our fiction program is special because it encourages young writers during their early and most formative years. A distinguished panel of individuals, including renowned writers and Golden Apple recipients, serves as judges for this competition. The top stories which are then published in an anthology.
