Innovation is an essential skill in successful and enduring cultures. This competition was created to nurture the innovative and creative talents of Chicago’s young people. Entrants in the Jazz Improvisation Contest are required to improvise a blues composition along with a composition of their choice. They are judged on the originality and creativity of their spontaneous improvisation. Throughout the year, Foundation members and friends have the pleasure of listening to the winners’ music at several Foundation and Club events. The program has been a huge success and has supported some very impressive talent.

Please join us in celebrating the following 2007 awardees.
